The festival is the local culmination of a four year project to promote new opportunities for artists from a range of backgrounds, identities and experiences. OPEN UP Gothenburg is based not on identity but on the shared structural challenge of accessing opportunities to develop and present artistic works (film, music, art, design, craft) to the public when the infrastructure for culture is increasingly restrictive and exclusive. Participation is open to anyone who wishes to engage with a collective process of development.

See more about the OPEN UP Gothenburg project on the HDK-Valand website , on the EU project site, and on the Gothenburg internal project working site.

You can learn more about the individual artists and their work in the OPEN UP Festival on their individual pages.
